Farmindustria and Fondazione Telethon have awarded three prizes of 10,000 euros to young researchers who work in the neonatology field.
The award testifies the commitment of Farmindustria and Fondazione Telethon in spreading scientific research in Italy. And promote - at the same time - the professionalism of women engaged in Research & Development, thus contributing to the development of new or increasingly effective therapies for neonatal diseases.
The winners are:
- Gaia Colasante (Ospedale San Raffaele, Neuroscience Division, Milan) for the study of a gene therapy for Dravet syndrome, a rare epileptic encephalopathy.
- Claudia Fuchs (Department of Biomedical and Neuromotor Sciences, University of Bologna) for the studies of CDKL5 deficiency, a gene that encodes a protein essential for brain development and function.
- Laura Rigon (Fondazione Istituto di Ricerca Pediatrica "Città della Speranza", Laboratory for Diagnosis and Teraphy of Lysosomal Diseases, Padova) for studies on the efficacy of the administration of nanoparticles for mucopolysaccharidosis type II.
Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, which prevented the award ceremony during the annual event on March 7 dedicated to women, Farmindustria and Fondazione Telethon wanted to give a sign of continuity and strong support to those who are in the front line every day to give new hope to patients.
